Kevin Palmer holding a king salmon in Sitka, Alaska

Kevin Palmer

Operations Manager and Fish Processor

I have been fishing and enjoying everything Sitka has to offer for over 20 years, and I love sharing my knowledge of the area with others, especially first-time visitors!

For the past seven years, I managed the Longliner Lodge and Suites before it was recently sold, where I focused on providing exceptional customer service.

I take great pride in our fish-processing facility and make sure every guest’s catch is handled with the utmost care to ensure they take home the highest-quality product possible.

I look forward to continuing this level of service and hospitality for the guests of Peril Sky!

Captain RJ Miller of Peril Sky Fishing Charters

RJ Miller

Captain and Owner

If there’s one thing I know, it’s that there’s no bad day when you’re out fishing in Sitka, Alaska! I was born and raised here, surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery and incredible fishing waters in the world. Fishing isn’t just something I do; it’s a big part of who I am.

With 10 years of charter fishing experience, I love sharing my knowledge of Sitka’s waters and helping guests reel in the fish of a lifetime. From battling a big halibut to hanging on tight when a king salmon takes off, there’s never a dull moment out here!

My goal is simple: put you on the fish, keep the smiles coming, and make sure you head home with some great stories to tell.

Whether you’re an experienced angler or picking up a fishing rod for the very first time, you’re welcome aboard. I’ll bring the local knowledge and fishing experience, and you bring your sense of adventure!

Captain Johnny Belcher holding a fish

Johnny Belcher

Captain

Johnny grew up in a fishing village, where he was exposed to many different fishing styles and techniques throughout the years.

He began commercial spearfishing at the age of 14 and spent the next 12 years developing his skills. He then moved on to commercial halibut fishing in Alaska for the following 17 years, while also gaining experience in sportfishing.

All of this helped shape his extensive fishing knowledge and ocean experience, which he has continued to build over the past 30 years as a charter boat captain in Sitka, Alaska.

Specializing in local ocean species, including halibut and king salmon, Johnny has accumulated invaluable knowledge of the area’s waters and fishing grounds.

He also has a natural talent for telling great fishing stories and keeping everyone entertained. Fishing with Captain Johnny is always a memorable experience!

Peril Sky Chef Bret Davis holding a fish

Bret Davis

Chef

Bret Davis here to tell you a little bit about myself!

I love the outdoors, motorcycle riding, fishing, hunting, skiing, and cooking. I have competed in many different cooking competitions, including rib cook-offs, chili cook-offs, and biscuits and gravy competitions.

I’ve been cooking since junior high school in 1974. It’s what I love to do, besides fishing. I enjoy making people happy through good food and great experiences.

Sitka is like my second home. I first visited in 1988, and I’ve been coming back ever since. I absolutely love Sitka! It has some of the best seafood in the world, including shrimp, crab, and fish.

The biggest fish I’ve ever caught was a 258-pound halibut! You’ll also have the opportunity to catch a trophy fish of your own.

Kamilia Burks

Guest Experience, Marketing & Brand Manager

Born and raised in Texas, I never imagined my journey would lead me all the way to beautiful Sitka, Alaska! Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with a fisherman, and now we’re raising two beautiful children while embracing life on the wild side. It’s a little crazy, a lot of adventure, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

At Peril Sky, I wear a lot of hats. From managing our marketing, creative branding, and promotional merchandise to making sure every guest feels welcomed, comfortable, and taken care of, my role is a little bit of everything.

I love bringing the Peril Sky experience to life, both through the memories we help create on the water and the little details that make our brand special. Behind the scenes, I’m always jumping in wherever I’m needed to keep things running smoothly, all while balancing life as a mom of two. My favorite part? Seeing our guests arrive as strangers and leave feeling like family!
